Pair of Battling Bishops Garner USA South Weekly Accolades

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South has released its weekly awards for October 3rd, and N.C. Wesleyan is pleased to announce that junior Alex Magner of men's soccer and senior Christina Huber of volleyball have garnered accolades in their respective sports.

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Magner, N.C. Wesleyan - The junior goalkeeper from Newland, North Carolina posted two shutouts over USA South opposition in a 2-0 week for the Bishops. In 180 minutes played, Magner stopped all six shots-on-goal he faced. In a 3-0 victory over Ferrum, Magner made four saves while in a 1-0 win over Greensboro, he stopped two shots. This is the first weekly award of Magner's career.

Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Christina Huber, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior libero from Virginia Beach, Virginia averaged 6.67 digs per set as the Bishops posted a 2-2 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 3-0 loss to Maryville, Huber totaled 19 digs and one service ace, and in a 3-0 win over Salem, she notched 16 digs and another ace. On Saturday, Huber turned in a week-high 25 digs in a 3-0 loss to Covenant. This marks Huber's third award of the season.
