Homecoming Football Postponed, Alumni & HOF Events Now Highlight Schedule

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The aftermath of Hurricane Matthew continues to alter North Carolina Wesleyan's athletics schedule, including the postponement of Saturday's Homecoming football game versus Methodist University.

N.C. Wesleyan's campus remains closed due to flooding and road conditions in the Rocky Mount area, while the hard-hit Fayetteville area is still reeling from record-setting rainfall, flooding, and extensive power outages. While N.C. Wesleyan will be able to resume most of its athletic events on Tuesday, the Monarchs have been forced to postpone all events through at least Sunday, October 16th. This includes Wednesday's volleyball match versus the Bishops in Fayetteville, and Saturday's football game here in Rocky Mount.

There are plenty of other events for Bishop fans to enjoy this week!  Women's soccer will be at home on Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:30pm versus Meredith and Averett, respectively. Prior to Wednesday's match with the Cougars, head coach Beverly Biancur will recognize her 2016 senior class.

On Friday, volleyball hosts its Dig Pink event and Senior Night when USA South foe Mary Baldwin University visits Everett Gymnasium for a 7:00pm tilt. The Office of Advancement has an alumni social scheduled prior to the match, while the College Store will have some of the latest Bishop gear (including this year's breast cancer awareness tee) available in the lobby. Be sure to wear pink to the match to show your support of this worthy cause!

After the volleyball match, stick around for basketball's "Midnight Madness" event. Doors open at 11:45pm, and in addition to several prize giveaways, fans will be treated to performances by Wesleyan's cheerleaders and pep band, as well as the introduction of the 2016-2017 men's and women's hoops teams.

On Saturday, baseball and softball will hold its annual alumni games at Bauer Field and Edge Field. Softball is set to get started at 10:00am followed by baseball at noon, giving our baseball alumni plenty of time to prepare for Saturday evening's Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Edge Gym at 6:30pm. North Carolina Wesleyan will officially be welcoming the 1999 Division III National Championship Baseball Team, along with head coach Charlie Long and assistant coach Ernie Jones, into its storied Athletics Hall of Fame.
