Battling Bishops Honor Local Heroes With Annual 9/11 Passes

Rocky Mount, N.C. - September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of Rocky Mount and its surrounding community.

For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events. The passes, which are good for up to four people, were delivered to area stations by Wesleyan student-athletes the week following the 15th anniversary of this tragic event.

Our softball team honored the Nashville Police and Fire Departments, while men's soccer and volleyball stayed local by visiting the Rowe Drive and Winstead Avenue stations. Wesleyan's basketball and football teams headed downtown, and baseball stopped by the Highway 4 station. No matter the destination, however, Wesleyan athletes benefited from getting out into the community to show support for this worthy cause.

This marks the 14th season that the Battling Bishops have honored the tragedy of September 11th, 2001 by distributing these passes, which serve as a small token of our gratitude for our local law enforcement. To them, we say "THANK YOU!"
