Trio of Soccer Bishops Earn USA South Weekly Recognition

Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South has released its weekly awards for October 16th with a trio of Battling Bishops earning recognition in soccer -- Ryan Halliday and Jordan Williams for the men and Ashley Major for the women.

Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Ryan Halliday, N.C. Wesleyan - The sophomore midfielder from Virginia Beach, Virginia scored two goals with one assist in a 3-0 week for the Bishops versus USA South competition. In a 3-0 win over William Peace, Halliday scored the team's second goal of the match while assisting on the third. In a 1-0 win over Maryville, he scored the game-winning goal in the 28th minute.

Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Jordan Williams, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman goalkeeper from Manassas, Virginia notched two shutouts as the Bishops posted a 3-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In 270 minutes in net, Williams allowed one goal and made eight saves. In a 3-0 win over William Peace, Williams stopped both shots he faced. In a 2-1 victory over Pfeiffer, he recorded three saves. Finally, in a 1-0 shutout of Maryville, Williams turned aside all three shots he faced. 

Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Ashley Major, N.C. Wesleyan - The Manassas, Virginia senior goalkeeper posted the first shutout against USA South foe Salem in 28 games as the Bishops notched a 4-0 victory over the Spirits who were previously unbeaten in Conference play. Major stopped all six shots she faced in the team's only action.
