Wesleyan Completes Perfect Weekend with Six Sunday Victories

Rocky Mount, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan's athletic teams completed a perfect 12-0 weekend with six more victories on Sunday, highlighted by the Bishop women's tennis team knocking off defending champion Methodist by a 5-4 score to close out play at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center.

Wesleyan's evening match with Methodist, however, went down to the wire. MU's Davi Barbour and NCWC's Zanetti proceeded to pick up points for their teams at #2 and #3, respectively, and after the Monarchs took a brief 4-3 lead with a three-set win at #4, Wesleyan senior Florencia Sorrentino again tied the score with a 6-2, 7-6 win at #1. Down to the final court, freshman Louise Hovhammer sealed the win with a 6-0, 6-4 win at #6 to help Wesleyan secure its fourth straight victory. The Bishops are now 5-2 overall, 3-0 in USA South action. NOTE: Sunday's match with the Monarchs was a regional match that did not count in the conference standings.
