Patterson Named Head XC / Assistant Tennis Coach

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Troy Patterson as the Battling Bishops' head cross country and assistant tennis coach. Patterson comes to NCWC after most recently serving as a tennis professional at Mercy Health Plex in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Patterson takes over a women's cross country program in the midst of its first season after being reinstated in the summer of 2014. Additionally, he will serve as assistant men's and women's tennis coach, joining a men's program that has won six straight USA South titles, as well as a promising women's program that is making strides in the league under second-year head coach Andres Amores.

A native of Newark, Ohio, Patterson played collegiately at Division II Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia from 2009 to 2011. His coaching experience includes a three-year stint as assistant tennis coach at Newark High School, in addition to serving as a camp counselor and tennis pro with various organizations.

A Physical Education major, Patterson is a PTR Certified Tennis Instructor and member of the USTA. He will now reside in Rocky Mount.
