Jean Edge left her mark on women's athletics at North Carolina
Wesleyan as she coached the first-ever women's basketball team in
1976-77. Having also served as head coach of the volleyball team
from 1975-77, she continued to add to her resume by beginning the
softball program and coaching them from 1974-77. In fact, the
Battling Bishops' softball facility, Edge Field, is named in
her honor.
In addition to her coaching tenure, Edge served as a Physical
Education professor for the College.
