Cynthia Jones Hicks made her mark as a member of the North Carolina Wesleyan women's basketball program, setting the school’s career scoring record in her senior year with 1,299 points.  After being selected to the All-Dixie Conference Second Team in the 1988-1989 season, she was a First Team selection and the Most Valuable Player of the Conference Tournament in 1989-90. 

Hicks also served as an assistant coach with the Battling Bishops from 1993-2001. During that time, Wesleyan won two Dixie Conference Tournament Championships and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
