Terry Wright was a forward on the men’s basketball team and a four-year letterwinner for the Battling Bishops. He was a First Team All-Dixie selection his last three years after leading the league in field goal percentage in each of those three seasons. He was also named to the Dixie All-Tournament Team in 1982-83 and 1983-84.

Wright's Bishops won the Dixie Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships in 1984, and advanced to the NCAA Regional Final before falling to LeMoyne-Owen, 71-68. He also led the Bishops to a second place finish in the Dixie in 1982-83 with an 11-3 record (21-9 overall) and a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Wright was selected to the NABC All-South Team in 1982-83 season and was tabbed NCWC’s Outstanding Male Athlete later that year. Additionally, he was named his team’s Most Valuable Player in 1984 and 1985. Wright still ranks in the top ten in the Wesleyan history books in scoring (1,341 points), rebounding (697 rebounds), and games played (113 games). His #41 jersey was retired at the conclusion of his career.
