DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis registered its second shutout of the season with a 7-0 defeat of North Carolina Wesleyan (4-4), Friday at the Eagles' Crotty Tennis Complex. Now 2-3 on the year, the Eagles have a quick turnaround before they play their next match, which is an 11 a.m. fixture on Saturday against Davis & Elkins at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
 
The first doubles match off the court was at the third spot where Roberta Krvajica and Mafalda Soares made quick work of Giulia Zanetti and Nicole Halabi, 6-1. Playing at the top spot Itxaso Blanco and Jillian Hobbs assured the Eagles of the doubles point with their 6-4 victory against Fariza Abdulloeva and Milena Armedieva on court one, and Georgina Wood and Alexis Marshall completed the doubles sweep by holding off Stephany Barbera and Julianna Johnson 7-6 (4).
 
Singles play saw the Blue and Gold claim five of six first sets. Playing at the top singles spot, Blanco was efficient in her 6-2, 6-0 defeat of Abdulloeva. Soares was next off the court following her 6-2, 6-2 victory over Barbera at the sixth spot, and Wood guaranteed the Eagle win with her 6-2, 6-3 win against Zanetti on court three.
 
Holding down the Eagles' fifth flight, Marshall dropped just six games in her 6-3, 6-3 win over Halabi. In the match at No. 2 singles, Krvajica lost the first set to Armedieva, 6-3, but rebounded to win the second 6-4 and held off the Bishops' No. 2 player 12-10 in the tiebreaker.
 
The last match to finish saw Ehrenfort rally from a 6-5 deficit to win the first set 7-6 (4) and went on to best Johnson 6-3 in the second to secure the shutout.
