Hawks Take Down the Bishops on the Road

Rocky Mount, North Carolina – The Hawks would defeat the Bishops of North Carolina to bring their record to 8-1 overall and 6-0 in the USA South Conference.

 

In the first period the Hawks would strike early and score on a 46-yard pass from Landon Cotney to Kahari McReynolds at the 12:25 minute mark. Nic Lee would add the kick to bring the lead to 7-0. NC Wesleyan would answer on their next drive within three plays by a 75-yard catch made by Elijah Love to tie the game.

The next touchdown would come from the Hawks on another pass from Cotney for 49 yards, bringing the Hawks ahead by 7. (14-7)

The second period would be a drought for both teams. However, in the third, the Hawks would strike first with a 20-yard field goal by Will Edwards to bring the score to 17-7. Hawks unsatisfied with a scoreless second period would bring the ball within running distance to the goal line for Landon Cotney to run it in for the Hawks third touchdown of the game, also ending the third period (24-7).

Cotney would continue to push down the field in the fourth period in an 11-play drive ending with a 4-yard pass to Zach Self to bring the score to 31-7.

The Hawks defense halted the Bishops with a 51-yard interception return by Miller Park at the nine-minute mark to spark more energy for the Hawks (38-7).

Wesleyan would strike back with a touchdown of their own on an 8-play drive, but it would not be enough to triumph the Hawks who would go on to win 38-14.
