Rocky Mount, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan's baseball team wrapped up its 2014 season on Monday afternoon at Bauer Field, dropping an 11-3 decision to the Knights of St. Andrews University. The game marked the end of the careers of seniors James Johnson, Alexis Rodriguez, Hayden Williams, Mike DeVinney, Matthew Rhyne, Tyler Clark, Daniel Carroll, Will Beasley and Jackson Pleasant.

The Knights plated a single run in their first at-bat, then used a six-run second inning to forge a 7-0 lead that they would not relinquish. Wesleyan got on the board in their half of the frame thanks to an RBI-single by sophomore James Kornegay.

In his final collegiate outing, Beasley (3-5) settled down on the mound to toss four straight scoreless innings, which were followed by a scoreless seventh by Pleasant. SAU managed a pair of runs off of Carroll in the eighth, but Wesleyan responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Rodriquez drove home Kornegay with the first, while Johnson walked and later came around to score on a wild pitch.

SAU rounded out the scoring with a two-run blast to right field in the ninth, their third homer of the day. Both runs were charged to Rhyne but were unearned, allowing him to complete the season with a 0.00 ERA.

Offensively, Kornegay finished 3-for-4 at the plate, while freshman Luis Palencia went 3-for-5.

Wesleyan completes the 2014 season with a 13-21-1 overall record.
