Ferrum, Va. - Sophomore Kaelan Jacobs went 6-of-11 with a pair of doubles over the weekend, but it would not be enough to lift his Bishops to a series win at Ferrum. After dropping Friday's opener by an 8-3 score, the Bishops bounced back for a 9-2 win in game two only to see the Panthers take the rubber game by a 6-3 tally.

In Friday's opener, the Bishops twice held a one-run lead, but Ferrum plated four runs in the eighth inning to pull away for the 8-3 win. Senior J.J. Rodriguez ripped two of Wesleyan's four hits in the contest, while sophomore hurler Ryan Grant (1-3) suffered the loss in 5.2 innings of work.

On Saturday, NCWC opened up an 8-0 lead over the first four innings and did not look back en route to the 9-2 victory. Jacobs and Ciro Norzagaray each delivered RBI-doubles in the first two innings, with Marcus Kornegay blasting his first homerun of the season in the third.

Sophomore Luis Palencia capped Wesleyan's scoring with an RBI-double in the seventh, giving starting pitcher Robert Mondoux (1-2) more than enough support to secure his first victory of the season. The lefty allowed two runs on ten hits over seven complete. Offensively, Palencia, Jacobs and Kornegay each had three hits in the win.

Sunday's rubber game saw the Panthers forge a 5-0 advantage going into the sixth inning. The Bishops got on the board with back-to-back RBI-doubles by Norzagaray and Jacobs, and Jacobs later made it 5-3 with an RBI-single in the seventh. Unfortunately, Wesleyan would get no closer as FC added an insurance run in the eighth.

Norzagaray went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jacobs wrapped up his solid weekend with a 2-for-4 showing at the plate. Andrew Franklin (0-1) took the loss on the mound.

The Bishops (5-18, 4-14 USA South) host a non-conference game with St. Andrews University on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 3:00pm at Bauer Field.
