Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Battling Bishop baseball team of N.C. Wesleyan wrapped up its three-game set with USA South foe Covenant College on Monday afternoon, taking the series finale by a 5-4 score. The victory came after the completion of Saturday's second game that was suspended due to darkness. Junior Ciro Norzagaray paced Wesleyan in the series, batting .462 with five RBIs and four runs scored over the three-game span.

Monday's finale saw both teams scratch a run in the first -- the Bishops' coming on a Norzagaray RBI-groundout. Covenant put up a three-spot in the third, but the Bishops countered with single runs in the third and fourth on run-scoring singles by Justin DiSanto and Holden Taylor.

Down 4-3 in the eighth, Norzagaray started the Bishop rally with a one-out walk, and he moved to third on a James Lovett single to center. Pinch runner Will Graves advanced to second on a wild pitch that plated Norzagaray with the tying run, and Graves eventually scored the go-ahead run on a Marcus Kornegay two-out single.

Senior George Moore tossed a scoreless ninth to earn the save, while sophomore T.J. Wilkie (1-0) picked up the win in relief. Wilkie did not allow a hit and struck out five over four innings of work.

Offensively, sophomore Kani Upshur ripped two of Wesleyan's eight hits on the day.

The two teams had previously opened the series on Saturday with Covenant earning a 3-2 come-from-behind win in the opener. Up 15-11 when game two was suspended in the ninth, the Scots eventually secured the victory on Monday by that same score.

Wesleyan (7-21, 5-16 USA South) continues league play at Maryville next weekend. Friday's doubleheader is slated for a 1:00pm start.
