NCWC's Swartout Signs with Colorado's Trinidad Triggers

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball program is pleased to announce that former Battling Bishop and current assistant coach Jake Swartout has signed with the Trinidad Triggers, an independent affiliate of the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs located in Colorado.

Swartout, who pitched for the Bishops from 2010 to 2013, has served as an assistant coach at his alma mater the past two seasons. As a player, he was a part of a Wesleyan's 2010 USA South championship team as a freshman, while his junior season saw the Brooklyn, N.Y. native post a career-best 3.41 earned run average. Swartout wrapped up his NCWC tenure with a career-high five victories as a senior, finishing with 100 strikeouts over four seasons.

The Pecos League is an independent professional baseball league which operates in cities in desert mountain regions throughout New Mexico, Southeastern Arizona, West Texas and Southern Colorado. Originally formed in 2010, the league is home to high power offenses that are fueled by high altitudes and smaller ballparks.

Pecos League players come from all over the world and are 25 years old and younger. The regular season is nestled in the middle of the summer from May 15th to July 27th. Since its inception, the Pecos League has promoted 202 players to higher independent and affiliated teams.

The Triggers officially open their season May 19th versus the Garden City Wind. For more information on the Pecos League and/or to follow Trinidad online, please visit http://www.trinidadtriggers.com/.
