Alden, Shultz to Toss Historic Ceremonial First Pitch on Monday

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan baseball program will officially hold a dedication ceremony for its new John Alden Scoreboard at Bauer Field on Monday, March 20th, highlighted by a historic ceremonial first pitch. Mr. John Alden, the namesake of the scoreboard, will catch former Bishop Ed Shultz -- the battery used in Wesleyan's inaugural game back in 1961!

The Bishops are excited to honor Alden, who's generous donation made the scoreboard possible. A continuous supporter of the college's Moe Bauer Endowment, Mr. Alden possesses tremendous admiration for his former coach and is humbled to honor him in this way.

The new inning-by-inning scoreboard measures 36 feet in length and sits down the right field line, featuring prominent LED lighting and offering customizable team names. The bottom panel proudly pays tribute to Wesleyan's two National Championship teams and offers a graphics panel that can be used for fan engagement and/or advertisement. Setting off the design is a lighted "W" at the top of the structure.

Please join our current Bishop coaches and players on Monday to take in the cermony prior to Wesleyan's match-up with Christopher Newport. Game time is slated for 3:00pm.
