Misenheimer, N.C. -The Battling Bishop baseball team wrapped its regular season slate over the weekend, suffering a 3-game sweep on the road at Pfeiffer University. NCWC will now prepare for this week's USA South Conference Tournament in LaGrange, Georgia.

Friday's opener saw freshman hurler Drew Tubb earn a no-decision after allowing four runs on 11 hits over five complete. With the game tied 4-4 in the eighth, Pfeiffer's D. Perry blasted a solo homer to left field off of reliever Robert Burns (0-2) that lifted the Falcons to a 5-4 victory. Nate Gardner and Brandon Wheat each went 2-for-4 with an RBI apiece for the Bishops.

Rain on Saturday later forced a Sunday doubleheader that saw Pfeiffer tally 17-3 and 9-4 wins.

It was all Falcons in game one as PU used a 7-run second inning to pull away. Brad Pennington's solo shot in the third was one of the lone bright spots for the Bishop offense as Pfeiffer starter Matthew Lambert stifled Wesleyan, allowing just two hits over six innings of work.

In the nightcap, Wesleyan opened up a 3-0 lead in the third as Alec Titmus, Max Johnson, and Gardner all drove in runs. Unfortunately, Pfeiffer used a 3-run fifth to go up 4-3, later plating five runs over their final two at-bats to seal the 5-run victory. Titmus paced the Bishops with a 3-for-4 showing at the plate, while junior Trey Croom (0-1) suffered the loss in his first relief appearance of the season.

The Bishops (19-21) will now await seeding and opponent for the first round of this week's USA South Conference Tournament. Please continue to check www.ncwcsports.com for updated information.
