LAGRANGE, Ga. - The NC Wesleyan Baseball team continued their postseason run by dominating 8th seeded Covenant College 11-1 in the second round of the USA South Baseball tournament.

The 5th seeded Bishops (24-14) now advance to the Winner's Bracket Final tomorrow at Noon when they battle 3rd seed LaGrange College.

Senior CF Cedrick Kornegay led the Bishops going 4 for 5 while scoring 3 runs. Also recording multi-hit games were senior Logan Andrews and shortstop Alec Titmus while freshman DH Jackson Murray drove in 3 runs. Seniors Brandon Wheat and Trey Croom also drove in two runs apiece to lead Wesleyan.

Senior starter Nate Gardner tossed a terrific game to lead the Bishops with his 7 innings allowing 8 hits and one run on 4 walks and 5 strikeouts to improve to 2-1. Senior reliever Mike Smith also threw two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

Wesleyan put 3 runs on the board in the first inning led by a Croom RBI double, a Murray RBI groundout, and a Nichols sacrifice fly. Wesleyan would then lead 4-1 heading to the 6th when Titmus' RBI single made it 5-1. The Bishops then took advantage of some Covenant miscues in the 7th scoring on a hit by pitch, a balk, and an error to put the game out of reach at 8-1. Wheat then doubled in two more in the 8th while Murray singled in the final run.
