ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The NC Wesleyan College baseball team rolled to a big 13-1 conference win over rival William Peace University in game one of their series on Friday afternoon from Bauer Field.

Junior outfielder Zach Lyon led the Bishops with a home run and a career-high five-hit game as he went 5 for 5 with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

Lyon got the Bishops started with his first-inning RBI single before CF Drifton Padgett followed with his RBI single as well. An error made it 3-0 before a Jean Lagreca sacrifice fly finished the inning. Wesleyan then added two more runs in the third on Lagreca's two-run single.

Lyon and SS Tyson Bass then followed with solo home runs in the 5th and 6th innings, respectively, while NCWC added three more runs in the 6th on a walk, wild pitch, and sac fly. The Bishops then closed out the game in the 7th with 3B Jackson Hobbs' and Lyon's RBI singles.

Lyon's 5 hits led the day but 2B Davie Morgan also knocked three hits and a double while Padgett went 3 for 3 with a double as well. Bass and Hobbs also recorded two hits apiece as part of the Bishop 17-hit attack.

Senior starter Derrick Carter improved to 6-0 with his dominant 7 innings allowing just one run on one hit while walking six but striking out eight.

The Bishops improve to 9-1 in the USA South East Division and 16-11 overall while WPU falls to 15-12 and 5-5 in conference.
