ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The top seeded NC Wesleyan College Baseball team used three home runs to take a 10-7 victory over 3rd seeded Pfeiffer University on Friday in the Winner's Bracker game of the USA South Tournament from Bauer Field.

The game was delayed for three hours due to lightning. With the victory, the 27-15 Bishops now advance to Saturday afternoon's winner's bracket finale at 1:30 PM where they will wait to see their opponent.

Pfeiffer got out to a 4-1 lead on the Bishops through 5 innings off Bishop starter Danny Thompson. Freshman 3B Javier Quintana then stepped up to the plate in the top of the 6th with the bases loaded and smacked his first career grand slam to left to give Wesleyan the lead at 5-4.

Senior DH Travis Cross would then pad the lead in the 8th with a two-run homer, his first of the year, scoring D. Padgett who had singled. After Tyson Bass and Quintana reached base, junior 2B Davie Morgan then stepped up and crushed a three-run game-winning homer to give the Bishops even more breathing room. Morgan's home run was his 8th of the season while he is now hitting .417 with a team-best 64 runs scored.

Junior Center Fielder Drifton Padgett and Cross led the team with two hits apiece while Padgett also stole two bases. D. Padgett is now hitting .354 on the season with 43 runs scored and a team-high 17 stolen bases.

Junior reliever Chandler Padgett was on the mound tossing 3 and 2/3 scoreless innings of relief before the game was delayed, but went on to get the victory improving to 5-2. Thompson struck out four while walking three over 4 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. Freshman reliever Dylan Cheeley came on in the ninth after the delay to finish out the game and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits and a walk while striking out one.

Pfeiffer (N.C.) will now battle #2 seed Huntingdon College (AL) in an elimination game Saturday morning with first pitch scheduled for 10:00 AM. Huntingdon defeated #4 seed Piedmont 9-1 earlier Friday in an elimination game.
