Wesleyan Sweeps Bridgewater Opening Weekend

Bridgewater, VA - The North Carolina Wesleyan baseball team defeated Bridgewater 5-4 Saturday afternoon. The Bishops were able to hold off a late comeback from the Eagles to sweep the opening weekend series. 

Wesleyan had several players with multi-hit games including Luke Chung who went 3-4, and Jean Legreca who went 2-3 with a walk. Tyson Bass and Davie Morgan both had monster days for Wesleyan as well. Morgan contributed 2 hits and a triple to the Bishops' victory while Bass had a double and a single up the middle with an RBI.

On the mound, Senior Payne Stolsworth stepped up and delivered 5 innings of shutout baseball and struck out 8 for his season debut. In relief, Hunter Hill pitched the 8th inning and struck out all 3 batters he faced. He was then followed by Clayton Gilmore who got the save for Wesleyan.

The Bishops will be back in action next Saturday when they take on Roanoke for the baseball program's home opener.
