Former NC Wesleyan and USA South Pitcher of the Year Derrick Carter is in his first season as Pitching Coach for the Battling Bishops.
A native of Rocky Mount, NC and Northern Nash HS, Carter was the Bishop's ace pitcher the past two seasons as a left-handed starter.
He was a 3x Conference Pitcher of the Week and won 16 games over the past two seasons including going 8-3 in 2022 with a team-best 2.64 ERA and 5 complete games while striking out a team-high 102 batters over 95 innings.
Carter was a member of the National Honor and Leadership Society and majored in Business Administration.

Carter will also serve as Head JV Coach for the baseball program.
Derrick resides in Rocky Mount with his wife, Hannah and three children, Makenna, Liam, and Annaleigh.
