    The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics hosted its 48th Annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, April 24th, in the Garner Lobby of the Dunn Center. Coaches, staff and student-athletes came together to celebrate the accomplishments of both individuals and teams from the 2012-2013 season.
  • Jeff Filkovski Named Head Football Coach at NCWC

    After an extensive search, the North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff Filkovski as the next head coach for the Battling Bishop football program. Filkovski replaces Mark Henninger, who recently accepted the same position at Marian University. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Filkovski joins N.C. Wesleyan after a five-year stint at Marietta College and becomes the third head coach in program history.

    The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its 2012 All-Conference awards for football with a total of 90 student-athletes have earned All-Conference honors. North Carolina Wesleyan had five athletes garner recognition, led by senior Dwayne Hollis as a First Team selection at both defensive back and return specialist.

    The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District® Football Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.   • Bishops Celebrate Senior Day with 32-21 Victory

    The Battling Bishop football team of North Carolina Wesleyan celebrated its 2012 Senior Day on Saturday afternoon with a 32-21 victory over Averett University. NCWC's defense pitched a shutout in the second half, outscoring the Cougars 20-0 in the third and fourth quarters en route to the victory.

    The Maryville College Fighting Scots amassed 489 total offensive yards en route to a 34-13 victory over USA South foe North Carolina Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon on MC’s Honaker Field.

    Christopher Newport University outlasted a determined North Carolina Wesleyan defense on Saturday afternoon, securing a 17-10 victory over the Bishops in USA South play. NCWC held CNU to just 323 yards of offense on the day, but a late turnover and score would prove to be the eventual difference-maker for the Captains.

    Senior Dwayne Hollis and freshman Jamias Williams have each earned weekly accolades on the gridiron after impressive performances in Saturday's 45-23 victory over Greensboro College. Williams was tabbed the USA South's Offensive Rookie of the Week, while Hollis earned the league's Special Teams Player of the Week in addition to recognition on the BSN and D3Football Teams of the Week.
  • Hollis' Two TDs Sparks Bishops in 45-23 Victory

    Senior Dwayne Hollis scored a pair of touchdowns on Saturday afternoon to lead his N.C. Wesleyan football team to a 45-23 victory over Greensboro College in USA South play. Down 17-6 at the break, Hollis provided a much-needed spark with a 90-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff of the second half, the first of five TDs the Bishops would score in the third quarter alone.
  • Panthers Win League Shootout with Bishops, 51-35

    North Carolina Wesleyan's football team turned in one of its most productive offensive showings of the season on Saturday as senior quarterback John Jackson tossed a career-high four touchdown passes, two of which were hauled in by junior wide receiver Greg Edwards. It would not be enough, however, as homestanding Ferrum College earned a 51-35 win over the Bishops in USA South play.

    North Carolina Wesleyan celebrated its 2012 Homecoming on Saturday, and the day was full of notable highlights. A pair of USA South soccer wins coupled with Commissioner Rita Wiggs' halftime presentation at the Bishops' football game made for an exciting day, while the Department of Athletics annual Hall of Fame inductions capped off a memorable night in Rocky Mount.
  • Wesleyan Football Drops League Opener, 40-13

    North Carolina Wesleyan's football team dropped its USA South Conference opener on Saturday, falling to LaGrange College by a 40-13 score on the road. The Panther defense held the Bishops to just 200 yards on the day, all through the air.

    The No. 7 Salisbury University football team forced five turnovers and limited North Carolina Wesleyan to just 204 yards of offense en route to a 69-6 win over the Battling Bishops at Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday.
  • Bishops Honor Local Heroes With 9/11 Passes

    September 11th is a time for remembering our fallen heroes from New York to Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. It is also a time to recognize those local heroes that risk their lives daily to insure the safety of our Rocky Mount community. For this reason, the student-athletes of North Carolina Wesleyan annually honor our local policemen and firefighters by distributing season passes for all Battling Bishop sporting events.

Senior Dwayne Hollis of football was named Special Teams Player of the Week, while freshman Andri Bjarnason of men's soccer was tabbed Rookie of the Week.

    The USA South Athletic Conference held its 2012 Football Media Day on Monday, July 30th, at Averett University. Each of the Conference's eight football coaches addressed the media and gave their thoughts on the upcoming season. The preseason poll was also released at the event with N.C. Wesleyan earning a 3rd-place billing.
