Greensboro, N.C. - Sophomore Malik Adams caught three touchdown passes and senior Brice Wordsworth hauled in another to lead their N.C. Wesleyan football team to a dominating 31-6 USA South victory at Greensboro College on Saturday. After falling behind 6-0 early, the Bishops reeled off 31 unanswered points to up their record to 5-4 on the season, 4-3 in conference action.

Less than a minute into the game, GC's Ryan Throndset hit Raymond Bridges with a 77-yard scoring strike to give the Pride a quick 6-0 lead. From there, however, Wesleyan's defense would allow just 174 yards of offense and record four interceptions... one pick each by Jaylon Johnson, Tyreik Dix, Anthony Janezic and Terrance Peterson.

Offensively, junior quarterback Dustin Midgett and senior tailback Jacques Alston controlled play. Midgett finished 18-of-28 for 194 yards and three TDs, and Alston racked up 173 rushing yards on the ground. The 173 yards gives Alston 1,341 rushing yards on the season, which eclipses his own program-record of 1,234 yards he turned in last fall.

Midgett's first TD was a 4-yarder to Adams in the opening quarter, while freshman Codan Breckenridge's PAT and eventual 21-yard field goal in the second quarter gave the Bishops a 10-6 advantage. Wesleyan padded its lead with a trick play midway the period that saw freshman wideout Dwayne Bishop find Adams from 24 yards out, and a 27-yarder from Midgett to Adams would later make it 24-6 at the half.

Wesleyan scored the only points of the second half on Wordsworth's 23-yard TD reception near the end of the third quarter.

Wesleyan wraps up its 2014 schedule next Saturday at home versus Huntingdon College. The game is slated for 1:00pm start at Bishop Stadium, and NCWC will be honoring its 2014 senior class prior to kickoff.
