Ferrum, Va. - The USA South's 2015 Football Media Day was held Thursday, July 30th, at Ferrum College. Each of the Conference's eight football coaches addressed the media and gave their thoughts on the upcoming season. The USA South preseason poll was also unveiled at the beginning of the event, with the Battling Bishops earning a 5th-place billing.

Wesleyan's 2015 squad is looking to build on a 5-5 season a year ago, and third-year head coach Jeff Filkovski hopes his 70+ returners are poised to restore the Bishops' league success that has seen NCWC post a 46-31 mark versus USA South competition since the program's inception. Among those returners are 17 starters who will be led by a pair of USA College Football Preseason All-America selections: senior offensive lineman Martin Brazwell and junior wide receiver/return specialist Malik Adams.

"I'm certainly excited about the upcoming season," said Filkovski. "We are returning a tremendous amount of talent, and entering my third season, I know we're one step closer to competing consistently at a high level."

Topping the poll was Huntingdon College with six first-place votes and 48 total points. The Hawks were followed by Maryville College with 42 points and one first-place vote, while Methodist University earned a third-place billing with 39 points and the remaining first-place tally.

Prior to the press conference, each coach offered remarks about a potential "Impact Player" for the 2015 season. Filkovski spoke briefly about senior quarterback Dustin Midgett, who tied the record for passing touchdowns in a season last fall with 21.

In preparation for Monday's press conference, the league also released its 2015 Football Media Guide, which previews the upcoming seasons of all eight USA South football institutions. The guide can be found HERE or by visiting the football page of the USA South website, which also houses the complete preseason coaches poll, as well as photos and video from the event.

The 2015 USA South football schedule kicks off on Friday, September 4th as both Averett and N.C. Wesleyan take on non-Conference opponents. The Bishops will host a 7:00pm tilt with Stevenson University at Bishop Stadium.

The remaining USA South teams begin their seasons with non-League action the following day.
