Rocky Mount, N.C. - Behind a pair of touchdown catches by junior Trey Lancaster, N.C. Wesleyan's football team cruised to a 45-0 USA South win over Greensboro College on Saturday afternoon in Rocky Mount. Lancaster finished with five receptions for 90 yards, while the Bishop defense pitched its first shutout since last fall's 44-0 win over the Pride.

Wesleyan got all the scoring it would need in the opening quarter when Lancaster hauled in scoring strikes from sophomore QB Donielle Totten from 27- and 21-yards out, respectively. The first came on a 4-play, 66-yard drive on the opening kickoff, and the second came after an Eddie Graham interception on Greensboro's first play from scrimmage.

Up 14-0 entering the second quarter, Wesleyan tacked on 14 more points before the half on a 7-yard scoring run by freshman quarterback Brandon Thompson and another TD pass from Totten -- this time a 14-yarder to wide receiver Ty-Traveon Roberts.

The second half again was all Bishops as tailback Darian Curley tallied an 8-yard touchdown run to cap a 7-play, 67-yard drive in the third quarter, while the fourth began with a 25-yard field goal from senior Codan Breckenridge to make the score 38-0. Wesleyan's defense added a touchdown for good measure when sophomore Tremayne Frazier scooped up a Pride fumble and found the endzone from five yards out.

Totten was nearly perfect for the Bishops, connecting on 7-of-8 attempts for 127 yards and a trio of TDs. Thompson performed admirably in his first collegiate action, completing six passes for 36 yards and rushing five times for 38 yards and a score. Running backs Deandre Gllis and Adrian Minondo combined for 125 yards on 26 carries.

Defensively, Wesleyan held the Pride to just 106 yards of offense on the day and recorded eight tackles-for-loss. Senior Digiovanni Lugo led the total team effort with five solo tackles.

Now 2-3 in USA South play, the Bishops will travel to league foe Averett University next Saturday for a 6:00pm tilt with the Cougars.
