Antonio Johnson of the N.C. Wesleyan football took home the USA South Conference's Defensive Player of the Week award Monday for his play in the shutout win last Saturday.

The Beaufort, North Carolina junior linebacker totaled three solo tackles, one of which was for a loss of three yards, one forced fumble, one pass breakup and one interception return for a touchdown in a 38-0 victory over USA South foe Greensboro.

His forced fumble came on the defense's fourth play and led to a Bishop touchdown three plays later. Johnson raced 45 yards for his touchdown in the first half which ended up closing out out the game's scoring. He beat out five other nominees for the award as well.

He will now lead the Bishops, 3-1, into an "under-the-lights" matchup with co-conference leader Averett University (3-1) at 7 PM Saturday night at Rocky Mount Athletic Stadium.
