NC Wesleyan College senior linebacker Antonio Johnson, the 2018 USA South Defensive Player of the Year, was named as the Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week for September 9 for his big game in the overtime win over Emory and Henry last weekend.

Football Defensive Player of the Week -

 Antonio Johnson, N.C. Wesleyan - The Beaufort, North Carolina senior linebacker recorded 13 total tackles, 1.5 for a loss, with one sack and one interception in a 31-24, overtime win over Emory & Henry last week. Johnson's interception sealed the game as it closed out overtime after the Bishops scored a touchdown on their opening offensive possession. 

Johnson and the Bishops will next take their 1-0 record back home to Rocky Mount when they host non-conference foe Shenandoah University this Saturday at 12 PM down at the Rocky Mount Stadium at the sports complex in town.
