Rocky Mount, N.C. - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced its NABC Honors Court, which recognizes collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2013-14 season. North Carolina Wesleyan head coach John Thompson is pleased to announce that former Battling Bishop and current assistant coach David Gurganus garnered recognition.
The NABC Honors Court recognizes a player's talents and gifts possessed off the court, as well as the hard work exhibited in the classroom. In order to be named to the Honors Court, an athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
- Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
- Cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2011-12 academic year.
- Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
- Member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Institution.
Gurganus, who served as team captain last season, was also honored as a member of the USA South Academic All-Conference Team earlier this summer. Congratulations David!
