Wesleyan Men Dominate Opener at MACU, 79-51

Elizabeth City, N.C. - The men's basketball team of N.C. Wesleyan officially tipped off its 2014-2015 season on Tuesday night, traveling to Mid-Atlantic Christian University for non-conference match-up with the Mustangs. The Bishops opened up a 12-point lead at the break and went on to shoot nearly 60 percent from the floor in the second half en route to a 79-51 victory.

Wesleyan dominated nearly every statistical category on the night, holding a 31-12 advantage in points off of turnovers and a 40-20 lead in points in the paint. Additionally, the Bishop bench out-scored MACU's 46-7 in the contest as 12 different players found the scoring column.

NCWC had four players reach double-figures, led by sophomore Eric Dortch-Jones with 15. Freshmen Adrian Moore and Kaimonne Douglas chipped in 12 apiece, while senior Isaac Brown added 10. Dortch-Jones and junior Shannon Huff each pulled down eight rebounds to help the Bishops forge a 41-25 advantage on the glass.

Wesleyan (1-0) returns to action this weekend at the South Region Challenge hosted by Shenandoah University. The Bishops will open with Hampden-Sydney on Friday at 5:00pm before taking on the host Hornets on Saturday at 4:00pm.
