Fredericksburg, Va. - The N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team handed Shenandoah University an 85-68 loss on Sunday afternoon in the Bishops' final game of the 2015 South Region Challenge hosted by the University of Mary Washington. Wesleyan's victory came on the heels of a 73-60 loss to Hampden-Sydney on Saturday, leaving the Bishops with a 2-2 overall mark.

Against the Hornets on Sunday, the Bishops held a slim 32-29 lead at the break and opened the second half with a 15-5 run to go up 13 around the 15-minute mark. Shenandoah got no closer than 11 the rest of the way, with the Bishops forging their biggest lead of 21 points, 79-58, on D.J. Weaver trey with less than five minutes to go.

Statistically, the difference in the game came on the glass where Wesleyan held a 42-28 advantage in rebounds and a 23-8 edge in second chance points.

Weaver finished with a game-high 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting from behind the arc. He was joined in double-figures by senior teammates Brandon Brown and Devontae Williams with 18 and 15, respectively. Brown and Williams each completed double-doubles with 10 rebounds apiece, while Jesse Simpson dished out a team-high six assists.

Previously versus Hampden-Sydney on Saturday, the Bishops held a 13-point lead midway the first half thanks to a 7-0 game-opening run that turned into an eventual 24-11 advantage at the 8:25 mark. The Tigers, however, closed out the half with a 21-7 run of their own for a slim 32-31 lead at intermission.

Unfortunately, it was all H-SC in the second half as the Tigers shot nearly 64 percent from the floor to pull away. Sophomore Adrian Moore paced four Bishop players in double-figures with a game-high 12 points, while Williams chipped in a double-double of 11 points and 10 boards.

The Bishops return to action next Sunday at Virginia Wesleyan College. Tip-off is slated for 2:00pm in Virginia Beach.
