Wesleyan Men Net Program-Record 127 Points in Rout of MACU

Elizabeth City, N.C. - N.C. Wesleyan picked up its first men's hoops victory of the season on Tuesday night, netting a program-record 127 points in a rout of host Mid-Atlantic Christian.

The Bishops were hot from the tip, with five of their first six shots coming on dunks -- three by Devontae Williams and two by Shannon Huff. Wesleyan's first 16 points, in fact, came in the paint before Isaiah Alston got things going from downtown. The freshman guard knocked down five first half three-pointers to send NCWC into the break with a 56-24 lead.

Wesleyan proceeded to shoot over 60 percent in the second half, reaching triple digits on a Chris Braswell jumper at the 7:20 mark. Braswell also did the honors of breaking the program's single-game team scoring record by knocking down a pair of free throws with 1:22 remaining for points number 123 and 124, which eclipsed the previous record set in 2008 versus Christopher Newport.

An Alston lay-up and Robert Wilson free throw in final minute secured the new record of 127.

Alston finished with a game-high 22 points to pace six Bishops in double-figures. Williams netted 18 on the night, while sophomore Adrian Moore had 15. Senior D.J. Weaver dished out a career-high 10 assists for the Bishops, who racked up 31 helpers as a team.

Next up for the Bishops (1-1) is this weekend's South Region Challenge hosted by the University of Mary Washington. NCWC faces Hampden-Sydney on Saturday at 5:00pm, followed by a match-up with Shenandoah on Sunday at 1:00pm.
