Bishop Men Race Past William Peace in League Action, 100-90

Raleigh, N.C. - The men's basketball team of N.C. Wesleyan earned a 100-90 USA South win at William Peace University on Monday night in Raleigh. All five starters reached double-figures for the Bishops, who move to 11-6 overall, 4-2 in league action.

The first half featured three ties and eight lead changes before the Bishops were able to forge a 47-40 lead at the break. Wesleyan proceeded to maintain a double-digit advantage for majority of the second half, but a late Pacer run would make things interesting down the stretch.

Up 94-79 with 2:31 to go, the Bishops seemed to be in control. WPU, however, used a 11-1 run over the next two minutes to get to within five, 95-90. Fortunately, NCWC's D.J. Weaver, Isaiah Alston, and Devontae Williams combined to go 5-of-6 at the charity stripe over the final 35 seconds to seal the 10-point victory.

Weaver led all players with a team-high 23 points on the night. Fellow senior Brandon Brown added 19, while current USA South Player of the Week Adrian Moore chipped in 16. Senior Shannon Huff flirted with a triple-double, tallying 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists.

The Pacers (7-10, 2-4 USA South) were led by Chris Thomas with a game-high 24 points.

Wesleyan returns home this weekend to host Piedmont College on Saturday at 2:00pm and a quick-turnaround contest with the Pacers on Sunday at 3:00pm.
