Wesleyan Men Sweep Pair of USA South Games at Home

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Battling Bishop men's basketball team swept a pair of USA South games over the weekend at home, earning victories over Piedmont College and William Peace University in Everett Gym. Sophomore Adrian Moore continued his solid play of late, averaging nearly 20 points and six assists per contest over the two-game set.

Versus Piedmont on Saturday, the Bishops never trailed en route to a 77-69 win. Senior Brandon Brown poured in a game-high 22 points and finished one rebound shy of a double-double. Moore added 19 of his own, while senior D.J. Weaver joined them in double-figures with 16.

Saturday's game also saw both coaching staffs participate in the NABC's Suits and Sneakers program, which supports the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative.

On Sunday, NCWC turned in a 73-68 win over the Pacers in a game that featured eight ties and five lead changes. The Bishops, who led by double-figures midway the first half, saw WPU close the gap to just three at the break, 30-27.

Behind six second half treys, the Pacers were able to take a 6-point lead of their own with just over six minutes remaining, but back-to-back threes by Brown and Moore pulled the teams even. After trading baskets, the Bishops were eventually able to end the game with a 6-1 run to seal the win.

Moore netted 20 points on the day, with seniors Shannon Huff and Devontae Williams chipping in 16 and 10 points, respectively.

The pair of victories send Wesleyan to 13-6 overall, 6-2 in conference action. The Bishops travel to LaGrange and Huntingdon next weekend to continue league play.
