Bishops Roll Past Mustangs, Prepare for Roger Taylor Invitational

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team routed Mid-Atlantic Christian on Wednesday night by a 92-68 score in Everett Gym. The Bishops are now 3-3 entering their annual Roger Taylor Invitational this weekend.

Wesleyan never trailed on Wednesday, using a 25-3 run over a 9-minute span to forge a comfortable 51-22 lead at the break. The Mustangs, however, would not go down without a fight. MACU knocked down 11 three-pointers in the second period to shave five points off the halftime deficit, but it would not be enough as Wesleyan cruised to the 24-point victory.

Sophomore Chris Sause led the Bishops with a career-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Junior Adrian Moore tallied a double-double of 17 point and 10 rebounds, in addition to seven steals and five assists. Joining them in double-figures were sophomore Justin Tankelewicz and freshman Mitch Layton with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

For the Mustangs, Markel Ming netted a team-high 14 points thanks to a 4-for-4 showing from behind the arc.

The 29th-Annual Roger Taylor Invitational tips off on Friday night with Greensboro College facing Shenandoah University at 6:00pm, which will be followed by NCWC and Bob Jones University at 8:00pm. Saturday's action features the Pride and Bruins in a 1:00pm tilt, while Wesleyan wraps up play versus the Hornets at 3:00pm.

The classic-style tournament is named for Wesleyan's first All-American, Roger Taylor. Taylor is an inaugural NCWC Athletics Hall of Fame inductee and a 2011 inductee into the USA South Hall of Fame. A former member of Wesleyan's Board of Trustees, he is generous supporter of Bishop Athletics and the College, as well as the Rocky Mount community.
