Rocky Mount, N.C. - The USA South Athletic Conference has released its weekly basketball awards for January 23rd. For the third time this season, Battling Bishop freshman A.J. Frye has been named the league's Rookie of the Week!
The Wilmington, N.C. freshman forward averaged 18.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game in a 1-2 week versus USA South competition. In a 102-96 overtime win over Greensboro, Frye totaled 20 points, nine rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. In a 78-62 loss to Ferrum, Frye contributed 18 points, seven rebounds, one steal and one block. Finally, in a 76-72 loss to Averett, Frye tallied 17 points, two rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal.
