Tankelewicz Breaks Season 3-Point Record, Bishops Win Finale

Rocky Mount, N.C. - Sophomore Justin Tankelewicz broke the program record for three-pointers made in a season on Sunday afternoon in Everett Gymnasium, draining his 80th and 81st of the season in Wesleyan's 94-76 win over Huntingdon. The 15-year old record of 79 treys was previously set by former Bishop Bobby Jenkins during the 2001-2002 season.

NCWC led from the tip on Sunday as freshman A.J. Frye gave his team a quick 4-0 lead with back-to-back buckets. The Bishops extended that lead to 17 at the break, 47-30, doubling that total in the second half behind the play of Robert Wilson and Greg Joseph who each notched double-doubles.

Frye led all players with 27 points, with Wilson adding a season-high 25 points and 12 rebounds. Joseph finished with 15 points and 10 boards, while Tankelewicz chipped in 12 points of his own.

Previously on Saturday, Wesleyan fell to visiting LaGrange College by an 84-64 score in a critical league tilt. Junior Adrian Moore did all he could in the loss, tallying 24 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists on the day. Tankelewicz joined him in double-figures with 12.

Drew Vanderbrook poured in a game-high 29 points for the Panthers, who nailed 13 treys as a team to pull away.

The Bishops finish their 2016-2017 campaign with a winning record of 13-12, marking the program's ninth straight season without a losing record. Unfortunately, Wesleyan narrowly missed USA South Conference Tournament seeding by one game.
