Rocky Mount, N.C. - The Bishops hosted their 30th Annual Roger Taylor Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Everett Gym, splitting a pair of games behind the play of All-Classic picks A.J. Frye and Robert Wilson.

Friday's action kicked off with undefeated Virginia Wesleyan University downing Greensboro College by 101-83 score. The Marlins' Tyree Golston and Lamont Steward poured in 21 and 18 points, respectively, to pace the Marlins, while Keijon Honore added 14 points and six assists.

N.C. Wesleyan then took the court for a dominating 103-59 victory over Columbia International in their home opener. The Bishops connected on over 55 percent of their attempts from the floor, led by senior Adrian Moore's 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting. Wilson and Frye chipped in 13 and 11, respectively.

On Saturday, Greensboro (2-3) opened play with a 94-72 win over CIU thanks to a game-high 27 points from Kyle Riddley. Micah Banks added a team-high 25 for the Rams (2-8), and for their efforts, both Riddley and Banks were named to the All-Classic team.

The Bishops (3-4) and Marlins (7-0) wrapped things up with an intense match-up that ended with in an 86-73 VWU win. Virginia Wesleyan never trailed, forging a 45-32 halftime lead after a 16-5 run midway the period turned a slim 2-point advantage into a 13-point cushion. At the half, the Bishops recognized the tournament's namesake and sponsor, Mr. Roger Taylor, who gained noteriety as the program's first All-American and an inaugural Hall of Fame inductee.

The two teams then took the court for the final 20 minutes of play, and although the Bishops matched the Marlins point-for-point in the period (41-41), the halftime deficit would prove too much to overcome.

Frye netted a team-high 14 points for NCWC, with Wilson adding 11 points and five boards. Steward and Honore again paced VWU with 24 and 13 points, respectively, en route to All-Classic honors.

After the final game, the 2017 Roger Taylor Invitational All-Classic Team was announced as follows:

Micah Banks, Columbia International
Kyle Riddley, Greensboro
A.J. Frye, N.C. Wesleyan
Robert Wilson, N.C. Wesleyan
Keijon Honore, Va. Wesleyan
Lamont Steward, Va. Wesleyan

The Bishops will now enjoy a two-week break before returning to USA South action at home on Saturday, December 16th, versus Greensboro. The game is slated for a 3:00pm tip-off.
