Bishops Snap 3-Game Skid with 91-84 Win at Greensboro College

Greensboro, N.C. - Junior Chris Braswell poured in a season-high 25 points on Tuesday night to help his N.C. Wesleyan men's basketball team score a 91-84 USA South win at Greensboro College. The victory snaps a 3-game skid for the Bishops, who even their record at 3-3 in conference play.

The Pride (4-7, 1-3 USA South) used a 14-4 run near the end of the first half to open up a 7-point halftime advantage, 49-42. Greensboro's Darus Maddox paved the way with 18 points in the opening period, while the Bishops were led by Adrian Moore and Robert Wilson with 10 points apiece.

Wesleyan made quick work of the deficit to start the second half, using a 9-2 run to knot the score at 51-51 less than two minutes in. The next eight minutes were a back-and-forth affair, and with 9:53 remaining, the Bishops found themselves clinging to a slim 70-69 lead. The ensuing 10-3 run by Wesleyan extended the lead to eight points, 80-72, at the 5-minute mark, and Greensboro would get no closer than four points the rest of the way. Braswell netted 21 of his 25 points in the second half alone to lead the Bishop charge.

NCWC (5-7, 3-3 USA South) shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half, which included knocking down 5-of-10 attempts from behind the arc. in addition to Braswell, Wilson finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Josh Covington added a career-high 13 points off the bench.

For Greensboro, Maddox notched a team-high 24 points.

Wesleyan returns to action at home this weekend in Everett Gym, beginning with a league tilt on Friday night versus Ferrum College at 7:30pm. The Bishops then host a 2:00pm match-up with Covenant College on Saturday.
