Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss of season

Fredericksburg, VA - The NC Wesleyan men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday falling 81-68 to instate rival Guilford College in the second game of the Mary Washington Tip-Off Classic in Virginia.

Wesleyan got out to a 38-37 first half lead shooting 41 percent overall and 53 percent from three while Guilford (2-2) shot 54 percent inthe first half.

The Bishops (2-1) then saw their shooting drop off in the second half as they were outscored 44-30 shooting just 36 percent in the half and only 20 percent from 3-point range.

Senior guard Chris Braswell led the Bishops with 15 points along with 5 rebounds, a team-high two steals and an assist in the defeat. Two other Bishops also scored in double-figures with sophomore guard Damon McDowell scoring 11 points and leading with 3 three-pointers while senior Chris Sause chipped in 10 with a team-best 6 boards.

Junior center A.J. Frye also led the Bishops with 5 assists while adding 9 points with senior forward Rob Wilson also contributing 9 points and 4 rebounds before fouling out. 

NC Wesleyan is next in action on Nov. 28 at 7:30 PM when they host Guilford again in their home opener.
