Wilson and Nichols named USA South Player & Rookies of the Week

The USA South Athletic Conference announced their Player and Rookie of the Week award winners for the week of Dec. 10-17 on Monday and two NC Wesleyan basketball players won this week.

Senior forward Robert Wilson won the Men's Player of the Week Award while sophomore guard Cydney Nichols won the Women's Rookie of the Week.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Robert Wilson, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior forward from Chapel Hill, North Carolina averaged 22.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the Bishops versus USA South competition. In a 96-58 win over Huntingdon, Wilson posted 22 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals. In an 84-82 victory over Averett, Wilson totaled 23 points, six rebounds and four assists. He beat out six other nominees for the award.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Cydney Nichols, N.C. Wesleyan -
 The Suffolk, Virginia sophomore, in her first year of collegiate basketball, guard averaged 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 assists in a 1-1 week for the Bishops versus USA South competition. In a 70-59 win over Pfeiffer, Nichols scored a career-high 26 points with four rebounds and three steals. In a 69-65 loss to William Peace, Nichols totaled five points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal. She beat out 4 other nominees for the award.

Wilson will next lead the 8-1 Bishops into an exhibition game at High Point University Monday evening at 7 PM. 

Nichols will also lead the women into a game at St. Mary's (Md.) College tonight at 6 PM.
