Wesleyan Golf Competes at Marine FCU Intercollegiate

Jacksonville, N.C. - North Carolina Wesleyan's golf team was back in action over the weekend at the highly competitive Marine FCU Intercollegiate hosted by Camp Lejeune. Competing in the Scarlet Division, the Bishops carded team rounds of 302, 323 and 302 to finish 8th among 14 institutions.

The three-round event was held at the Paradise Point Golf Club's Gold (par-72) and Scarlet (par-70) courses. Wesleyan played the Scarlet course in rounds one and three, and the Bishops competed on the Gold course in round two.

Leading the way for NCWC was freshman David White, who sandwiched a day two 81 with a pair of team-low 74 rounds. He finished at 17-over, which tied for 20th place among the 69-man division. Fellow freshman Michael Madden trailed White by just one stroke with a pair of 75 rounds to go along with a round two 80. Ben Gillon also finished in the top-30 at +20 (77-81-74).

Tommy Nakamura (76-81-79) and Matthew May (80-87-82) rounded out Wesleyan's competitors.

Roanoke College grabbed top team honors with rounds of 280, 328 and 285 for a three-day total of 893, besting Piedmont College by five strokes. Surry CC's Chandler White earned medalist recognition with rounds of 76, 66 and 67 to finish at 3-under.

Wesleyan returns to the course this Friday and Saturday at Roanoke's Spring Invitational. The two-day event will be held at the Ballyhack Golf Club.
