NCWC Golf Wraps Up Season at USA South Championship

Rocky Mount, N.C. - The N.C. Wesleyan golf team wrapped up its 2016 slate over the weekend at the USA South Conference Championship held at Rocky Mount's par-72 Benvenue Country Club. The Battling Bishops carded a 7th-place finish as a team and were led by sophomore David White and freshman Grady Anderson, who each posted a three-day 239 (+23) to place 22nd among the 45-man field.

White's day two 78 was a tourney-best for the Bishops, while Anderson's best round came with a day three 79. Sophomore teammate Ben Gillon carded a 78 on Sunday to finish ten strokes behind White and Anderson in 34th-place. Rounding out Wesleyan's scorers were senior Tommy Nakamura and junior Pearce Parsons in 40th and 43rd, respectively. Nakamura wrapped up his four-year Bishop career with a 79 in his final collegiate round.

Wesleyan beat out league foes Maryville College and Averett University in the standings after carding a team-best 317 in Sunday's final round. Leading throughout the tournament, Methodist University captured the team championship, finishing 32 strokes ahead of 2nd-place Huntingdon.

Individually, tournament medalist honors were captured by MU's Larkin Gross, who won the USA South Championship with rounds of 71, 72, and 71 to finish at 2-under.
