Anderson Paces Bishops at Season-Opening Tom Kinder Memorial

Harrisonburg, Va. - Sophomore Grady Anderson kicked off his second season with the Bishops in solid fashion on Monday and Tuesday, carding rounds of 69 and 76 to tie for 7th-place among 90 golfers at the Tom Kinder Memorial Tournament hosted by Bridgewater College. Anderson finished just 1-over par to help his N.C. Wesleyan team tie for 5th-place finish among 17 teams competing.

Anderson's 3-under 69 led Wesleyan in the opening round, with freshman Mariano Silvestri turning in a 1-under 71 in his first collegiate action. Junior David White carded a solid 72 (E), while freshman John Thornton and senior Pearce Parsons managed scores of 85 and 86 to leave the Bishops with an impressive 297 team score on the day.

The final round saw the Bishops post four sub-80 rounds en route to a 310 team score. Anderson's 76 led the way, with Silvestri's 77 leaving him at 4-over for the tourney and tying for 14th-place. White cracked the top-30 with a day-two 79 to finish at 7-over, while Thornton and Parsons rounded out NCWC's scoring with a 78 and 83, respectively.

The tournament, which was held at the par-72 Lakeview Golf Course, was won by USA South foe Ferrum College for the second straight year with team rounds of 284 and 292 to finish even. The Panthers' Brandon Bailey earned medalist honors with a two-day 137 (68-69) to finish at 7-under.

Wesleyan returns to action September 26th and 27th when the Bishops host their own Don Scalf Invitational at the Belmont Lake Golf Club.
