Stafford, Va. - Junior David White earned the first medalist honors of his career over the weekend, carding rounds of 72 and 76 to lead his Bishop golf team to a first place finish at the Inaugural Eagle Invitational hosted by the University of Mary Washington. Wesleyan beat out the host Eagles and Marymount University to secure their second team title of the season, their first on the road.

The two round event was held at the par-71 Augustine Golf Club. White's 72 (+1) in the opening round led the field and gave him a one stroke advantage over teammates Grady Anderson, Luke Thornton, and Dustin Wood. With weather playing a factor in both rounds, White's day two 76 (+5) was good enough for a one stroke win over Anderson and UMW's Phillip Manceri, who shot a field-best 74 (+3) in the final round to tie for second place.

Freshman Mariano Silvestri turned in a pair of 76 rounds to finish at 10-over and finish fourth, while Thornton's day two 80 left him in 5th-place at +11. Wood finished 8th overall at +14 for the tourney.

As a team, NCWC carded rounds of 291 and 308 to best Mary Washington by 18 strokes.

Wesleyan will next compete at the Marine FCU Invite hosted by Camp Lejeune. Opening round play begins on March 31st in Jacksonville.
