Wilson, N.C. - Sophomore Mariano Silvestri tied for 11th-place among 57 golfers competing at the Barton College Intercollegiate this week, helping his Battling Bishop golfers turn in a 5th-place finish overall. The two-day event was held at the par-72 Wilson Country Club and featured ten teams.

Battling adverse weather conditions from the start, Wesleyan turned in a 321 in Monday's opening round before shaving off 14 strokes for a 307 on Tuesday. Silvestri's rounds of 79 and 72 were the Bishops' low rounds on each day, leaving him with a two-day 151 (+7). Sophomore Luke Thornton managed a top-25 finished with rounds of 80 and 79, while Wesleyan's final three scorers -- Juan de Giacomi, Inaki Beitia, and Grady Anderson -- were all six strokes apart.

Division II Mount Olive University took top team honors with a two-day team total of 596, with host Barton College finishing in second place just two strokes off the lead. BC's Bryson Boyette carded rounds of 74 an 71 to earn medalist honors at +1.

Currently ranked 18th nationally, the Bishops return to action March 23rd at the highly-competitive Marine FCU Intercollege hosted by Camp Lejeune.
