Golf Finishes Regular Season 11th at Hampden-Sydney

FARMVILLE, Va. - The NC Wesleyan College Golf team completed their regular season on Sunday by finishing 11th out of 13 teams at the Hampden-Sydney (VA) Invitational at the Manor GC.

The Golf team finished 11th overall with a score of 645, but beat out three teams in the second round on Sunday with their 10th-best score of 31-over 319 after shooting a first round score of 326 on Saturday.

Junior captain Frankie Schmitt again led the Bishops with an 18th place finish after shooting rounds of 5-over 77 and 2-over 74 for a 7-over 151. 

Freshman Santiago Larumbe and junior co-captain Patricio Basta then each finished tied for 59th place after shooting 20-over 164 scores. They each shot rounds of 83 and 81. 

Freshman Augustin Spangenberg then came next in 69th place after shooting rounds of 85 and 83 for a 24-over 168 to complete the scoring. Sophomore Luis Zurita also shot rounds of 83 and 87 for a 26-over 171 while junior Jonathan Stallings, playing as an individual, shot rounds of 89 and 91 for a total score of 180 to place 73rd.

Some of the NCWC golfers will next return to action at home at next week's USA South Tournament at Benvenue CC in Rocky Mount from April 22-24.
