Wesleyan Men Dominate in Opener, Down Cairn 7-0

Fayetteville, N.C. - The Battling Bishop men's soccer team opened its 2014 slate on Saturday afternoon with a dominating 7-0 victory over Cairn University in Fayetteville. Six different players scored goals for Wesleyan, beginning with freshman Julius Orkasson's eventual gamewinner just 24 seconds into the match.

Goals by Isai Gonzalez (5'), Joe Storer (33' from Elias Kerem) and Jordan Grantz (35' from Sebastian Wiiala) gave the Bishops a comfortable 4-0 lead at the break. Samba Cande got in on the action with a successful penalty kick at the 54:42 mark, while Wiiala rounded out the scoring with a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes of play.

As a team, Wesleyan (1-0) held a 22-5 advantage in shots on the day. The Bishops conclude play at Methodist University's Fall Tournament on Sunday with a 4:00pm match versus Bridgewater College.
