Fayetteville, N.C. - The USA South has released its weekly awards for September 28th with two Bishops earning honors. Thorfinnur Thorfinnsson was named soccer's Defensive Player of the Week, while Sebastian Wiiala was tabbed Offensive Player of the Week.
Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Thorfinnur Thorfinnsson, N.C. Wesleyan - The junior defender from Borgames, Iceland helped the Bishop defense post two shutouts last week while also adding a goal and an assist. In a 2-0 win over Guilford, the Bishop defense allowed just three shots on goal. In a 4-0 victory over USA South foe Averett, Thorfinnsson assisted on the eventual game-winning goal in the 15th minute before scoring a goal of his own in the 58th minute.
Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Sebastian Wiiala, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior forward from Stockholm, Sweden tallied two goals and one assist last week as the Bishops posted a 2-0 record. In a 2-0 win over Guilford, Wiiala scored both of the team's goals including the eventual gamewinner in the 40th minute. In a 4-0 victory over USA South rival Averett, Wiiala assisted on the third score of the match in the 58th minute.
