Rocky Mount, N.C. - The men's soccer team of N.C. Wesleyan remained perfect in USA South play on Wednesday afternoon, moving to 8-0 on the season thanks to a 4-0 shutout of Methodist University at Scalf Field. Junior Jordan Davis gave the Bishops all the offense they would need in the 11th minute when his shot from 20 yards gave NCWC an early 1-0 lead.

Olafur Einarsson was credited with an assist on the score, which would prove to be the eventual gamewinner. The sophomore forward went on to tally a goal of his own just three minutes later when he booted home a through ball from junior A.J. Wadda. Senior Caetano Viegas' score in the 33rd minute off a Benjamin Osei assist gave the Bishops a 3-0 halftime advantage.

Freshman Kobi Boompong netted the lone goal of the second half at the 54:28 mark, unassisted.

The Bishops out-shot the Monarchs 13-6 on the day, with NCWC keeper Alex Magner making one save to preserve the shutout.

Wesleyan (11-4, 8-0 USA South) wraps up regular season play at home this weekend when the Bishops host Maryville and Piedmont. Saturday's match with Maryville is slated for 2:00pm, followed by a 3:00pm start versus the Lions on Sunday. Head Coach Frankie Taal will be recognizing his 2016 senior class prior to Sunday's match.
